DEKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team is back in action Sunday when it travels to Peoria, Ill. to take on Bradley University. Tip off is 2:05 p.m. at Robertson Fieldhouse.
The Huskies will look to make it 6-1 against fellow Illinois schools. The Huskies have knocked off Illinois St., Illinois, Chicago St. Northwestern and Western Illinois. The Huskies are currently riding a four-game winning streak following their 62-45 victory over Western Illinois.
Jessie Wilcox led all scorers with 15 points, tying her season best. She was 6-10 from the field and 3-4 from beyond the three-point line. She also had five rebounds and three assists. Kristin Wiener was the game's second leading scorer with 12 points. She also grabbed six rebounds. Stephanie Raymond also finished in double figures with 11 points.
The Huskies held Western Illinois to just over 30 percent shooting for the game, while the Huskies shot just under 50 percent from the field. The Westerwinds had only two players finish in double figures.
Northern Illinois holds a 4-3 advantage in the series. The last time the two met was December 21, 2003 when the Braves defeated the Huskies 53-48. Bradley has won three of the last four meetings. NIU's last victory over the Braves came December 20, 2002 when the Huskies defeated Bradley, 62-59.
NIU is 2-1 on the road this year. The Huskies defeated Cincinnati and Northwestern at the Mildred and Roger L. White Invitational and fell to DePaul, 71-68 on the Huskies first venture outside the Convocation Center. Bradley comes into Sunday's action after falling to NIU's next opponent, Illinois-Chicago, 83-69.
