Huskies to honor retiring head coach Pam Tyska

Jessica Struthers is in her first year as an assistant coach with the Northern Illinois women's golf program.

A three-year letterwinner at North Central College and graduate of DeKalb High School, Struthers joined the Huskies after working for the LPGA and the BMW Championship/Western Golf Association.

"We are thrilled to have Jessica Struthers as our assistant coach," Tyska said. "She was the top female high school golfer to come out of DeKalb in close to 30 years when she started her collegiate golf career at North Central College."

Struthers spent two years as an intern with the LPGA, helping coordinate the 2009 Solheim Cup, held at Rich Harvest Farms. With the BMW Championships/WGA, Struthers served as a sales and marketing associate. She had direct involvement with a marketing campaign that targeted 500 corporate sponsors, while organizing hospitality functions and coordinating housing for PGA Tour professionals.

"We are so fortunate to benefit from her lifetime of local contacts as well as her marketing experience with the some of the world's top golfing agencies," Tyska said.

As North Central, Struthers played a key role in leadership and mentoring, and served the community by volunteering with the Cress Creek Country Club Junior Golf Clinics. She was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), contributed as a student-athlete mentor and volunteered through Habitat for Humanity.
