JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Northern Illinois University women's golf team gained ground in the final round of the Don Benbow Invitational hosted by Butler University at Jacksonville Beach Golf Course Tuesday.

The Huskies moved up a spot from 13th to 12th after shooting a final round 345 for a two-day total of 689.

Junior Allie Parthie (Marinette, Wis./Marinette), who entered Tuesday tied for second, finished the tournament with a 159 (76-83) to tie for 15th. Jenny Niemiec (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), a mid-semester transfer who was playing as an individual, finished in 21st after trimming six strokes off her first round 84 to finish with a 162, while Kelsie Passolt (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) finished with a 169 after shooting a second round 85 to finish in 43rd.

"Allie Parthie opened with a solid first spring tournament and is looking forward to putting two solid rounds together to represent NIU at the top of the individual leaderboard as well as help the team climb in the standings," NIU head coach Pam Tyska said. "All indications are that her fall scoring average will be lowering each tournament. We are really pleased to welcome mid-year transfer from South Carolina, Jenny Niemiec of St. Charles. Jenny shaved 6 shots off her opening round to finish behind Parthie."
