NIU Women's Golf Team Places Eighth at the Illini Spring Classic

URBANA, Ill.-The Northern Illinois University women's golf team finished eighth after shooting a 967 at the Illini Spring Classic at Stone Creek Golf Club. "Just like our spring break trip, the longer we stay, the better we get," NIU head coach Pam Tyska said. "Kim Hunley played really well for us. She's striking the ball really well. I'm real pleased with her. Nicci Schultz finished strong in the last round. It was a long day today. I'm very proud of the team. We saved our best for last." Kim Hunley (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) was the highest placing Huskie, finishing tied for 25th after shooting a 238 (82-79-77) for the tourney. Nicci Schultz (Somonauk, Ill./Somonauk) followed, tying for 35th after shooting an 84-78 in the final two rounds finishing with a 242. Abbie Many (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Prospect) was right behind her after shooting a 243 (81-83-79) and finished the event tied for 40th. Ashley Lods (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes) and Jessica Parmenter (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) moved up the leaderboard on Saturday. After tying for 63rd after the first round, Lods finished tied for 51st posting a 250, while Parmenter ended up tied for 56th, shooting a 252. The Huskies return to the course April 13 when NIU travels to Muncie, Ind. for the Ball State Classic. It will be the Huskies last match before the MAC Championships April 25-27. Team Scores: 1.
