PEKIN, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University women's golf team is in sixth place after the first round of the modified Bradley Invitational at the Pekin Country Club Saturday.
Originally scheduled to be played at WeaverRidge Golf Club with 36-holes Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday, the Bradley Invitational was moved to Pekin Country Club and was shortened to a 36-hole event due to unplayable conditions at WeaverRidge.
"Something like this, you just roll with the punches. Whatever happens, happens," said NIU head coach Kim Kester. "We did get to walk the course before play this morning. You could see the course, but you didn't know certain clubs to hit off tees.
"Not seeing the course ahead of time, you play a little bit more cautious. When you play cautious it might leave you a little further out from the pin. We played alright, but considering we've never played this course before, we did fine."
The Huskies shot a 314 and are just eight shots out of first place. Butler leads the 10-team field with a 306. Jenna Peters of Butler, Indiana State's McCall Christopher and Kayla Katterhenry of Evansville lead all individuals with a 73
