DEKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Green Bay Invitational at the Green Bay Country Club in the first tournament of the season.
The Huskies shot a 644 (319-325), finishing behind Butler University (617), Loyola University (630) and Lewis University (642). Loyola's Ann Vrdolyak won the event, firing a 149 (73-76).
Senior Katie Kuhn (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale) led the way for the Huskies, shooting a 156 (78-78) to climb up from 10th to fifth on the leaderboard. Junior Allie Parthie (Marinette, Wis./Marinette) dropped four spots to seventh place after scoring an 82 today and finishing with a 157.
"Katie played very well," said NIU head coach Pam Tyska. "Even with that 78 she had a couple she'd like to go back out and re-play. I think she could have easily been 74 or 75 today. Allie Parthie had some bad breaks and one bad hole that put her out of contention for the top spot. Still a solid tournament for her."
Carissa Burdi (Carol Stream, Ill./Bartlett) climbed eight spots to 23rd after posting a final round 82 to finish with a 165, while Taylor Ellett (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) made the biggest jump in the tournament moving from 44th to 30th with a 168 (85-83). Kelsie Passolt (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) rounds out the list of Huskie competitors. The senior shot a final round 91 and finished with a 174.
The Huskies are back in action Saturday when NIU travels to Yorktown, Ind. for the Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State.
