"The competition was excellent and I'm so proud of them for doing so well and finishing right in the middle of the pack again with probably the best field that we'll see all year." Following Mattson in the individual standings were Toledo's Tammy Clelland, Eastern Michigan's Catherine Portin and Illinois' Seul Ki Park who each tied for second with an even-par score of 216. Wisconsin's Katie Elliott and Missouri State's Missy Linnens and Lyndsey Adams finished in fifth-place with a 2-over par tally of 218. NIU's Anne Senn (Mount Prospect, Ill.) followed Schultz with a 39th-place tally of 230 (80-75-75). Huskie senior Lisa Bailey (Decatur, Ill.) finished in a seven-way tie for 49th with a 17-over par score of 233 (77-77-79), edging teammate Abbie Many (Mount Prospect, Ill.) by one stroke placing 56th with a score of 234 (78-81-75). Freshman Kim Hunley (Aurora, Ill.) rounded out the scoring for NIU with a finish of 246 (79-79-88).
"We hung in there today even though we had some bumps along the way," NIU assistant coach Jen Clark said. "Abbie (Many) and Annie (Senn) came in low for us today and that was just tremendous." The Huskies are back in action on February 11, as they travel to Baja, Mexico for a dual meet against Southern Mississippi. --NIU-- |
