DEKALB, Ill.-The Northern Illinois University women's golf team opens the spring portion of its season across the boarder in Ensenada, Mexico when the Huskies co-host the Baja Invitational at the Bajamar Oceanfront Resort. The Huskies are co-hosting the event with Southern Miss.

The Huskies are looking to build on a successful fall season. The Huskies finished in the top 10 in the four tournaments it participated in, including a second-place showing at the Western Illinois Invitational and a first-place finish at the Huskie Classic.

Senior Abbie Many (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Prospect) and Jessica Parmenter (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) had strong rounds in the fall. Many won the Western Illinois Invitational posting a 150 (74-76) in two rounds of play. Parmenter tied for sixth in the event, shooting a 155 (77-78). Parmenter shot a 154 (74-80) to finish in a second-place tie at the Huskie Classic, while Many also finished in the top five, tying for fourth place after shooting a 155 (75-80).

Nine teams will be competing in the event. Joining the two host teams will be Bradley, Drake, Iowa, Kennesaw State, North Texas, Southern Illinois and USC Upstate. The nine-team field will be playing on a 6,094-yard course, with the Vista course serving as the front nine and the Oceano course as the back nine.

The teams will play 36 holes Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and complete play Tuesday, Feb. 12 with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
