INDIANAPOLIS -The Northern Illinois University women's golf team is in seventh place after two rounds of play at the 2008 MAC Women's Golf Championship at Brickyard Crossing hosted by Northern Illinois University. The Huskies shot a 657 (327-330), highlighted by a first round 76 by sophomore Kim Hunley (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora).

"We played a lot better in the first round than the score showed," NIU head coach Pam Tyska said. "In a 90-minute period late in the first round I think I watched 14 shots go to waste to either penalty shots or missed puts. We refocused in the second round. Overall we played better. The wind picked up another 15 mph. We had about a 35-mph wind to finish."

Hunley is the highest placing Huskie tying for 12th after scoring a second-round 83 for a two-round score of 159. Senior Abbie Many (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Prospect) is two shots behind her teammate after shooting a two-round total of 161 (81-80) and is tied for 19th.

Defending champions Kent State lead the way, shooting a 594 after two rounds of play. Golden Flashes teammates Kirby Dreher and Kira Meixner are tied for the lead at 148.
