DEKALB, Ill. -The Northern Illinois University women's golf team heads to Fishers, Ind. to compete in the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships at Hawthorns Golf & Country Club Friday.

Junior Allie Parthie (Marinette, Wis./Marinette) has led the way for the Huskies this season, finishing first on the team in all but one tournament. She comes in with a 79.0 average and seven top 10 finishes this year and a best finish of third at the SIUE Intercollegiate. Parthie will look to improve on her 171 (86-85) shot at The MAC Preview in October.

Kelsie Passolt (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) has competed in all 10 tournaments for the Huskies and looks to finish strong in her last MAC Championship as a Huskie. Passolt has an 84.8 average and best finish of 12th at the Snowbird Intercollegiate.

"The Huskie Women Golfers seem to be peaking at the right time in the season as we head to the MAC Championship," said NIU head coach Pam Tyska. "Leading the pack will be Top Dog Allie Parthie who boasts seven top 10 and two top 20 finishes in 10 events and leads the team in scoring. Senior Kelsie Passolt is looking forward to putting the crowing finish on her great career at NIU, she is playing her best golf yet."

Three Huskies will be competing in their first MAC Championship. Jenny Niemiec (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), who transferred to NIU from South Carolina this spring, has competed in five tournaments, averaging an 82.7 with a low round of 76. Niemiec placed a personal best 21st at the Don Benbow Invite.

Taylor Ellett (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) will compete in the MAC Championship as a true freshman and has competed in all 10 tournaments for the Huskies this season. Ellett has averaged an 86.1 with a low of 79. Ellett tied for eighth in the SIUE Invitational, a personal best.

Allison Van Heuklom (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) will also compete as a true freshman and has competed in four tournaments for the Huskies. Her first competition in the Huskies' starting lineup came last fall in The MAC Preview, where she finished 84th with a 182.

Van Heuklom will be the first Huskies play in the tournament when she tees off at 10:10 a.m. with the final NIU tee time set for 10:50 a.m. for Parthie.

The MAC Championship, which is hosted by Western Michigan, will play at 6,127 yards with a par of 72. This weekend's tournament is the last tournament for Tyska who is retiring after 26 years of service to NIU.

"I am so appreciative for my 26-year coaching career at NIU," Tyska said. "So many wonderful players, alumni and colleagues have crossed my path, many of which I still keep in contact with. We have three wonderful seniors soon to join the ranks of NIU Alumni in Carissa Burdi, Katie Kuhn and Kelsie."
