DEKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois University women's golfer Kelsie Passolt (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) was named to the 2009 National Golf Coaches Association Division I All-American Scholar Team.

Passolt had a solid freshman campaign for the Huskies on the course and in the classroom. Passolt had the highest grade point average on the NIU women's golf team, posting a 3.8 G.P.A. in mass communications. She posted her best finish of the season at the Loyola Invitational, taking fourth place after shooting a season-low 155 (77-78). Her best round of the year was a 77, shot in the first round of the Loyola Invitational.

"Kelsie does a great job of balancing high levels of success in the classroom and on the golf course," NIU head coach Pam Tyska said. "She is growing into a strong leader and is a wonderful ambassador for our program.

"Our women's golf program has a long history of this high-level academic honor. In receiving the award as a freshman, Kelsie has the opportunity to achieve what few Huskie golfers have, being honored as an NGCA All-American Scholar for her entire college career."

In order to be selected to the NGCA All-American Scholar Team student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and compete in at least 50 percent of the school's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
