Northern Illinois Women's Golfer Jackie Bailey Earns Academic All-America Honors From NGCA

Chicago, IL - For the second consecutive season, Northern Illinois University women's golfer Jackie Bailey (Decatur, IL / Warrensburg-Latham) has been named an Academic All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) for her combined efforts in the classroom as well as on the links.

In order to be considered for Academic All-America status by the NGCA, a player must own a minimum of a 3.50 grade-point average in the classroom, while competing in 66 percent of the team's regularly-scheduled events. Bailey met the academic requirements as a physical education major and competed in all-10 of the team's scheduled events this season.

A sophomore standout for Pam Tyska's Huskies, the Decatur, IL, native competed in a team high 23 rounds last season and led the squad in three tournaments. Second on the team with an 82.6 stoke average, Bailey finished a season-best 17th at the Illini Spring Classic (April 9-10) with rounds of 78-75-153. One of the team's most consistent performers, Bailey finished in the top-30 five times and was second on the team at the 2004 Mid-American Conference Championships (April 23-25) in Indian Spring, OH.

Bailey's inclusion to the 2004 NGCA All-Academic squad marks the fourth consecutive season the Huskies have had at least one member on the team. Last season, Bailey and Janelle Warrick (Neenah, WI) were named to the squad, while Warrick and Amanda Mapley (Davenport, IA / Bettendorf) were on the 2001 and 2002 teams. Bailey is the 10th Huskie to earn multiple Academic All-America honors from the NGCA in school history.
