NIU Women's Golf Team Wraps Up Play at the NIU Brickyard Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS-The Northern Illinois University women's golf team concluded it's first tournament of the season, posting an eighth-place finish in the NIU Brickyard Invitational at Brickyard Crossing Tuesday.

Freshman Jessica Parmenter (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) led the way for the Huskies. She posted a final round 79 and a 152 for the tournament to finish tied for 11th with three other competitors. Parmenter shot a first round 73 after the first day, tying her for sixth overall with four other competitors.

"It was nice to see a freshman led the pack of Huskies," NIU head coach Pam Tyska said. "The scores were higher today. Mother Nature showed up today."

Senior Abbie Many (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Prospect) posted the Huskies second highest score with a second round 80. She tied for 21st, finishing with a 156 for the tournament. Kim Hunley (Auroa, Ill./West Aurora) finished the tournament tied for 31st with a 159 posting a final round 82.

The Huskies will be back in action Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 at Harry Mussato Golf Course in Macomb Ill. when NIU takes on Western Illinois University. Tee time is set for 8 a.m.
