NIU Women's Golf team Plays Host to 23rd Annual Huskie Classic



Huskies play host to five teams in lone home meet of the fall.

DEKALB, Ill.-The Northern Illinois University women's golf team plays host to its lone meet of the fall when the Huskies play host to five schools in the 23rd Annual Huskie Classic at Whisper Creek Golf Course in Huntley, Ill.

"We have been nursing a plethora of injuries, and it was good that we had a few extra days to practice since our second place team finish at WIU," said NIU head coach Pam Tyska. "Abbie Many, medalist at WIU will lead the Huskies at the 23rd Annual Huskie Classic with Jessica Parmenter starting in the #2 spot. 3/4 spots will go to Kim Hunley and Ashley Lods."

Senior Abbie Many (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Prospect) comes into Monday's tournament having posted her first win of the season at the Western Illinois Invitational Sept. 17. She posted a final-round 76 for a two-day total of 150, to win the tournament by two strokes. Freshman Jessica Parmenter (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) has had a solid first month as a collegiate golfer. She posted a top-10 finish, tying for sixth, after shooting a final round 78 and 155 for the tournament ands had the highest Huskie score in the NIU Brickyard Invitational Sept. 11, tying for 11th with a final round 79 and two-day total of 152.

Joining Northern Illinois at Whisper Creek will be Loyola, Western Illinois, Detroit/Mercy, Oakland and Wisconsin-Green Bay. Tee times begin Monday at 9 a.m.
