HUNTLEY, Ill.-The Northern Illinois University women's golf team is tied for second after the first round of play in the 24th Annual Huskie Classic at Whisper Creek Golf Course in Huntley, Ill.

Carissa Burdi (Carol Stream, Ill./Bartlett) paces the Huskies, shooting a 79 putting her tied for third. Teammate Nicci Schultz (Somonauk, Ill./Somonauk) follows, tied for ninth after posting an 80. The Huskies have five players tied at 12th shooting an 81.

"There are some adjustments we need to make for tomorrow," NIU head coach Pam Tyska said. "We all have positive things to go into tomorrow on. It will be a fun day. It should be some great competition."

NIU, which scored a 321 in the first round, is well with in striking distance of the leader Bowling Green, which finished with a 317 after the first round. The final round of the Huskie Classic is Monday morning at Whisper Creek Golf Course. Tee time is set for 9:30 a.m.
