FISHERS, Ind. - The Northern Illinois University women's golf team moved up up two spots to finished in eighth place after final round play of The 2013 Preview at The Hawthorns Golf Club Tuesday.

NIU trimmed 15 strokes off its first round score, shooting a final round 315, to finish with a 645. Sophomore Samantha Coyne (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) led the way for the Huskies finishing in 16th with a 158 (79-79). Toledo won the team title with a 611, while Ball State's Jenna Hague won the individual crown with a 147.

"You couldn't ask for better conditions," said NIU head coach Kim Kester. "Overall, it was a good day. Sydney shot her lowest round of the tournament. That's always a good way to end on. She had five birdies on the day."

Freshman Sydney Brickey (Burtchville, Mich./Shattuck-St. Mary's) made the biggest improvement on the day, climbing 39 spots after cutting 11 strokes off her first round score to post a final round 74 and finish in 19th with a 159. Sophomore Connie Ellett (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) jumped up 26 places after trimming five strokes off her first round total to finish in 35th with a 163 (84-79)

Senior Jenny Niemiec (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) took 52nd with a 167 (82-85), while junior Taylor Ellett (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) took 67th with a 173 after cutting seven strokes off her first round total.

Casey LaBarbera (Marinette, Wis./Marinette), who was playing as an individual, finished in 58th after shooting a 168 (82-86).

The Huskies return to the course Feb. 3, 2014 when NIU travels to Lakewood Ranch, Fla. Tee time is set for 8 a.m. CT.
