Chris Weiss, who earned his degree in kinesiology for Northern Illinois University in 2005, joined the NIU gymnastics coaching staff in 2013 as an event coach while also serving as the team's strength and conditioning coach.
Certified with the American College of Sports Medicine and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Weiss develops, administers, and oversees the strength and conditioning program of the team and also to serve as extra help coaching and spotting event work.
He is the owner and founder of Custom Fit Gym in Sycamore, where he works as a personal trainer and fitness instructor teaching classes and counseling on nutrition. From 2002 to 2007 he was employed at the Energym Sports Campus as the Director of Boy Gymnastics where he developed, administered and oversaw competitive male gymnasts from instructional to highly competitive levels ranging between the ages of four and 18.
Weiss attended NIU from 2001 to 2005 where he was the president of the men's gymnastics club while also competing for the team.
A graduate of Rolling Meadows High School, Weiss and his wife, Amber, have a daughter, Jade.
