Northern Illinois vs. Ball State Gymnastics

Northern Illinois defeated Ball State, 192.925-191.125, to earn its first Mid-American Conference win of the season.

NIU Career Bests: Uneven Bars - 9.875 (at State of Illinois Classic, 3-14-09); Beam - 9.800 (State of Illinois Classic, 3-12-11).

2011: In the Huskie line-up for all 11 meets, and was one of NIU's top performers on both uneven parallel bars and balance beam as a junior. Season averages of 9.638 and 9.623 on bars and beam, respectively, ranked second on the team. Placed in the top four six times on uneven parallel bars and was in the top four or higher three times on balance beam. Scored a 9.700 or higher seven times on bars. Posted a score of 9.600 or better six times on beam. Earned MAC Specialist of the Week Honors after her performance at the State of Illinois Classic (3-12) when she tied her season best with a 9.825 on bars to take fourth place and scored a career best 9.800 on balance beam to tie for eighth. Started strong with four first or second place finishes in the first three meets of the season. Won bars versus Eastern Michigan (1-16) with a 9.700 and took second on beam with a 9.600 in that meet. Was runner-up on both bars and beam against Bowling Green (1-23) with scores of 9.700 and 9.550, respectively. Took the individual title on bars versus UIC (3-1), tying her season high of 9.825. Place on both events versus MAC Champion Kent State (2-20) with scores of 9.775 to take third on bars and 9.700 for fourth place on beam. Competed well at Iowa (3-5) where she scored 9.775 on bars and 9.725 on beam.

2010: Became first Northern Illinois gymnast to be selected the MAC Specialist of the Year, an honor reserved for a league gymnast who competes in two or less events. Qualified for the NCAA South Central Regional (4-10) as a sophomore as the lone individual event specialist on uneven parallel bars. Averaged a 9.492 on bars for the season. In her first trip to Regionals, scored a 9.000. Claimed five first-place finishes on uneven parallel bars in 2010, including at quadrangular meets at Texas Woman's University (2-7) and Eastern Michigan (3-13). Scored 9.650 or better on bars in eight of 11 meets in 2010 and earned scores of 9.725 or higher seven times. Achieved her season-best bars score of 9.825 in dual meets versus Ball State (1-31) and Illinois-Chicago (3-6). Named MAC Specialist of the Week following the season-opener versus Wisconsin-LaCrosse (1-10) when she won the bars event and took second on balance beam with scores of 9.725 and 9.625, respectively. Cracked the balance beam line-up for good halfway through the season and took third place on beam at Kent State Tri-Meet (2-19) and at UIC. Placed fourth in the state on balance beam with a career-best 9.775 at the Illinois Classic (3-20). Earned scores of 9.600 on balance beam eight times in 2010, including each of the last six competitions, when she averaged a 9.700. Northern Illinois' No. 2 finisher on bars and balance beam at MAC Championships, tying for 18th and 11th, respectively. In all, compiled 10 top five finishes on uneven bars and balance beam as a sophomore.

2009: Regular in the line-up on bars and saw action in a pair of meets on beam as a freshman. Earned the highest bars score of the season for the Huskies with a 9.875 to take second at the State Championships (3-14). Competed in all 10 meets for the Huskies on bars and recorded five top five finishes. Scored above 9.725 six times, including a 9.775 at Minnesota (2-28). Took second versus Bowling Green (1-11) on bars and was third at Ball State (2-8) and Western Michigan (3-9) while scoring 9.725 in all three meets. Earned a season and career-best score of 9.675 on beam in season opener versus Bowling Green to take fifth. Competed on exhibition basis four times on balance beam and recorded a season best 9.700 at Minnesota.

Prep: Trained at Gym-Kinetics in Mokena, Ill., and competed at Level 10 competition for four years. Missed the 2006-07 season due to Prep: Competed at Level 10 for two years for Gym-Kinetics and trained at United Gymnastics Academy in Frankfort, Ill. Named Hardest Worker (2006), MVP (2007), and Gymnast of the Year (2008). Missed the 2005-06 season due to an ankle injury. While in high school, earned honor roll status all four years. As a senior, completed 24 hours of community service while volunteering at local churches and for the American Cancer Society.

Personal: Born Sept. 17, 1989 to Bill and Madeline Guerra of Orland Park, Ill. A pre-physical therapy. Named a Huskie Scholar with a GPA above 3.0.
