Northern Illinois vs. Ball State Gymnastics

Northern Illinois defeated Ball State, 192.925-191.125, to earn its first Mid-American Conference win of the season.

NIU Career Bests: Beam - 9.700 (at Iowa, 3-5-11); Floor - 9.800 (vs. UIC, 3-1-11).

2011: Competed in every meet on the balance beam and floor exercise for the Huskies. In the NIU line-up for 10 meets on beam and in every meet on floor. Led Northern Illinois with a 9.655 average on floor and averaged a 9.483 on beam to rank fourth on the team. Recorded six top five finishes on the year. Completed the season with nine scores above 9.625 on floor, including in each of the last eight meets of the season. Scored 9.550 or better on beam six times. Posted a season and career best score of 9.800 on floor versus Illinois-Chicago (3-1) to take fourth place. Earned her top score of 9.700 on balance beam at Iowa (3-5) and added a 9.725 on floor exercise. Placed in the top three on both beam and floor exercise against Eastern Michigan (1-16) with scores of 9.525 and 9.675 to take third and second, respectively. Versus the eventual MAC champions Kent State (2-20), took third on floor with a 9.775. Scored a 9.700 on floor exercise at MAC Championships (3-19) to lead NIU. In the top five on both events at Ball State (2-25) with a 9.650 on beam for fourth place and a 9.700 for fifth on floor. Came up with matching 9.625s on beam and floor at the State of Illinois Championships (3-12). Performed well at Central Michigan (1-30) with scores of 9.625 and 9.575 on floor exercise and balance beam, respectively. Had only one "miss" on floor all season.

2010: Cracked the Huskie line-up on floor exercise in the Kent State (2-19) and Eastern Michigan (3-13) meets. Scored a 9.525 versus the Golden Flashes and posted a 9.375 in the EMU meet. Her top scores came as an exhibition gymnast as she posted a 9.750 at UIC (3-6) and scored a 9.725 versus Central Michigan (2-28). Also in the floor line-up as exhibition at the Texas Woman's Quadrangular (2-7) and scored a 9.450. Competed twice as exhibition on balance beam with her best score a 9.000 at Kent State (2-19).

Prep: Four-year letterwinner at South Brunswick High School, earning Most Valuable Player awards her sophomore and junior years. Tallied four top-three finishes -- including a title on the floor her senior year - in three USAG State appearances. Two-time co-captain advanced to the USAG Regionals as a sophomore and junior. Named an alternate for the USAG Nationals her junior year after her strong performance at Regionals: which included two third-place finishes on the beam and the all-around. Second team all-conference in her debut season, and won the top all-arounder award for her team. Tallied multiple first team honors her sophomore and junior years, including all-conference and all-area as a sophomore, and all-conference, all area, and All-State as a junior. Named to the second team All-State squad her sophomore season. Selected as Athlete of the Week by local papers four times -- twice as a sophomore and twice more as a junior. Aside from gymnastics, was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Daughter of John and Ana Maria Liptak of Kendall Park, NJ. Born Nov. 16, 1991 in New Brunswick, N.J. Pursuing a degree in elementary education. A Huskie Scholar with a GPA above 3.0.
