2007: Competed in 11 out of 12 meets during the season: 10 on beam, 10 in floor exercise, and once on the bars. Recorded a season-high score of 9.825 on the beam, earning a fourth-place finish at Denver (2/17). The following meet, scored a season high 9.775 on the floor exercise at Ball State (2/23), to tie for second in the event. Earned seventh place in the State Championships (3/25) in both the beam and floor exercise events, with scores of 9.625 and 9.750, respectively. At the MAC Championships (3/31), was the top scorer on the balance beam for the Huskies with a score of 9.725, earning her a 10th place finish in the MAC. In the floor exercise, scored a 9.600 or better in seven of 10 meets. Posted a 9.600 or higher score in six of 10 meets on the balance beam. Averaged a 9.520 on the beam and 9.638 in the floor exercise.
2006: Balance beam and floor exercise specialist who competed in every meet for the Huskies in both events. Averaged a 9.684 in 11 outings on floor exercise with all 11 scores of 9.600 or above. Had six scores of 9.625 or above on beam. Took first place on beam in the dual meet at Kent State (3/12) with a season and career high 9.850 and also placed third on floor with a 9.725. Had earned the same score on beam (9.850) a week earlier versus Michigan State (3/5), when she also scored a matching and career-high 9.850 on floor to tie for second place. Recorded a 9.825 to win the beam versus Western Michigan (2/12). Tied for second on beam at the Huskie Triangular Meet (1/29) with a 9.825. Earned a fourth-place finish on floor versus Bowling Green with a 9.650. Tied for fifth on floor at the State Championships (3/18) with a score of 9.700 and came back with a 9.675 at the MAC Championships (3/25). In her lone action on the vault, carded a 9.575 in the season-opening Huskie Triangular Meet (1/15). Qualified as a Victory Scholar with a G.P.A. above 3.5.
2005: As a freshman, saw action seven times on beam and in the first four meets of the season on floor. Averaged a 9.503 on beam and a 9.556 on floor. Twice came in with a season-best 9.850 on floor, in the season opener versus UIC (1/9) and versus Eastern Michigan (1/23), where she tied for first place. Also had a season-best mark of 9.750 on beam at EMU. Tied for fourth on beam at Michigan State (1/30) with a 9.625. Carded a 9.725 on the event versus Ball State (3/4). Four of her seven beam scores came in at 9.550 or above. Earned recognition as a Huskie Scholar.
Prep: Trained at Gym-Kinetics in Mokena, Ill. Spent four years competing at Level 10 U.S.A.G. in high school. Placed fourth on the beam at USAG State meet her junior year with a 9.2 and recorded the same score at the regional meet. Finished fifth on the floor at the State competition as a sophomore with a 9.3 mark. Earned a second-place honor on the beam at the USAG State meet as a freshman and scored a 9.2 on the floor exercise. Went on to U.S.A.G. Regional meet all three years.
Personal: One of 10 NIU gymnasts named to the NACGC Academic All-America team for 2006. Daughter of Shevawn Mikell and Gregory Rice. Two-time Scholastic All-State honoree with a cumulative G.P.A. above 3.0, earning Huskie Scholar status the past three years. Majoring in organizational and corporate communications. Born June 27, 1986.
