NIU Career Bests: Uneven Bars - 9.750 (vs. Eastern Michigan, 1-25-09).
2010: In the Huskies' line-up on uneven parallel bars for every meet in 2010. Twice posted a season-best score of 9.700 on bars - at Bowling Green (1-24), where she took third place, and at Kent State (2-19). Earned a score of 9.650 twice on the year, including at the State Championships (3-20) and at the Texas Woman's University Quadrangular (2-7). Recorded a bars score of 9.500 or higher nine times in 11 outings. Also had top five finishes on the event versus UW-Lacrosse (1-10) and Western Michigan (1-17). Her average score of 9.482 on bars ranked fourth on the team.
2009: Competed in nine meets for the Huskies on uneven parallel bars. Finished in the top 10 three times. Scored a career and season-high 9.750 versus Eastern Michigan (1-25). Placed fourth against Ball State (2-8) with a 9.675. Earned a score of 9.650 three times, in the season opener versus Bowling Green (1-11), with a ninth-place finish in the tri-meet at Illinois-Chicago (2-13) and at the State Championships (3-14). Scored a 9.600 at Western Michigan (3-9). Finished season with a 9.472 average on the bars.
2008: Competed on bars as an exhibition in two meets for the Huskies. Versus UIC (2-27), tallied a 9.550 on bars. Earned a career-best 9.675 on bars in a triangular meet versus UIC and Central Michigan (3-2).
Prep: Trained at Naperville Gymnastics Club, as well as Aerial Gymnastics in Downers Grove, Ill., where she competed in Level 9 competition for two years. Took first in state in the all-around as a high school freshman. Earned scores of 9.65 for the vault and floor at Regionals and scored a 9.575 score on the floor exercise at State competition her freshman year. Placed second on bars at Regionals and Nationals her sophomore year. Won the bars at the state meet as a junior.
Personal: Daughter of Rich Tanaka and Amy Orlando. Born November 1, 1989 in Peoria, Ill. Majoring in textiles and apparel merchandising. Earned Huskie Scholar honors with a GPA above 3.0.
