Huskies Drop 1-0 Decision to Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. - Despite five saves in today's contest by senior goalkeeper Lindsey Curnock, the Northern Illinois women's soccer team fell to Illinois State, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in Normal, Ill. Today's loss dropped the Huskies to a 1-3 record on the season. Both teams remained scoreless through the first half of the game, but in the 64th minute of play Illinois State sophomore Jessica Carlson scored the game-winning goal for the Redbirds after receiving the ball from an assist by Bethany Brown. Sunday's goal was the first of the season for Carlson. The Huskies were held to just two shots on goal, as the Redbirds outshot the Huskies, 20-6, in Sunday's contest. Curnock recorded five saves in the match-up, bringing her career total to 226, while senior Kelly Mullany and junior Christen Schuler each recorded a shot-on-goal for the Huskies. The Huskies will hit the road Friday, for their six-consecutive road game, as they take on Southern Illinois Edwardsville for a 7 p.m. contest Sept. 11.
