YPSILANTI, Mich.-The Northern Illinois University women's soccer team's 2008 season came to an end after the Huskies fell to Eastern Michigan, 2-0, in the first round match of the 2008 MAC Women's Soccer Tournament.

"It's always disappointing to lose the last game," NIU head coach Carrie Barker said. "Eastern Michigan played very well. The ball just didn't bounce our way today."

The No. 3 seed Eagles (12-4-5, 6-2-3) opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Vanessa Atanasoski scored her second goal of the season, unassisted, 30 yards out. EMU tacked on an insurance goal in the 81st minute on Katie Lozar's sixth goal of the season.

The No. 6 seed Huskies (9-6-5, 5-4-2) got off 10 shots, six on goal. NIU also had four corner kicks to Eastern Michigan's two, but were unable to capitalize on its opportunities.

"I'm very pleased with the season," Barker said. "Our team gave everything they had, not only today, but throughout the season."
