NIU Women's Soccer Inks Three Recruits for 2011 Season

DEKALB, Ill.- Northern Illinois head women's soccer coach Carrie Barker announced the addition of three student-athletes to the Huskies' 2011 roster Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies added versatility and depth as Ashley Neubeck, Lauren Noonan and Gwen Sabo join the NIU squad for the 2011 season.

Barker is excited to welcome the addition of Illinois natives, Neubeck (Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community), Noonan (Naperville, Ill./Naperville), and Sabo (Alton, Ill./Alton), to her Huskie team.

"We're looking forward to the addition of our 2011 class," said Barker. "We're adding more depth to a very talented group and I look forward to having them join us in the fall."

Listed below are the biographies of each of the incoming student-athletes.

Ashley Neubeck | Lindenhurst, Ill. | Midfielder/Forward
High School: Lakes Community | Club: Chicago Kickers/ELA

High School: Four-year varsity letterwinner ... registered 11 goals and 12 assists to total 34 points to help lead her team to an IHSA 2A Championship title, before earning an IHSA 2A Sectional Finals (Final 16) finish her junior season ... team notched a 21-7 record, going undefeated (6-0) in the North Suburban Conference Prairie Division to finish first in the NSC Prairie Division her junior year ... fired eight goals and seven assists for 23 points her sophomore season to help her team to an IHSA 2A Championship, IHSA 2A Sectional Championship, an IHSA 2A Elite Eight finish ... added five goals and two assists for 12 points as a freshman to help her team to a second-place finish is the NSC Prairie Division ... started 60 games, while seeing action in 75 contests with her senior season still in to come ... named team captain her senior season ... Daily Herald All-Conference Honorable Mention her junior season ... received All-State IHSSCA Honorable Mention honors as a junior.

Club: Played for the Chicago Kickers from 2007-2010 under coach Tom Mooney ... also played for the ELA (2010-11) under head coach Robert Meschbach.

Personal: Daughter of Michael and Tina Neubeck ... plans to major in mechanical engineering ... three-year member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and Athletes Committed to Excellence ... volunteer coach and referee for local park district soccer program ... enjoys boating, wakeboarding and snowboarding.

Lauren Noonan | Naperville, Ill. | Defender/Midfielder
High School: Naperville | Club: Windy City Pride #39

High School: Four-year varsity letterwinner ... started 23 contests at defense, recording one goal and one assist to help lead team to regional championship her junior season ... started seven contests as a sophomore to help team to Upstate Eight Conference Championships and regional championship ... started 18 games to help team to a regional championship her freshman season ... earned all-conference honorable mention her junior year

Club: Played for the 2010 National Champion Windy City Pride #39 team under head coach Ko Thanadabotuth ... led to team to US Club National Championship title her junior year ... helped team claim the US Club Regional Championship title her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons ...guided her team to the Illinois State Cup Finals her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons, with her senior season still to come ... team also won the SC del Sol Championship her freshman and sophomore years, and played to an Orange Classic Championship title her sophomore campaign

Personal: Daughter of Patrick and Judy Noonan ... intends to major in health education ... aspires to become a teacher ... received honors as an Indian Prairie Scholar, and Academic All Conference recognition ... member of Future Educator of America ... enjoys basketball, ice skating, hockey, cooking and golf.
