ABOUT AKRON
The Akron Zips stand at 4-4-2 with a 1-1-0 record in the MAC. They're coming off a weekend in which they split two home games against MAC opponents Miami (Ohio) (W, 2-1) and Ball State (L, 2-0). Vernon Croft leads the coaching staff in his second year in the position. He helped produce a 6-11-1 record last year, making his overall record at the institution 10-15-3.

ZIPS TO WATCH
Akron possesses two dangerous scorers, those being Sarah Sivic and Lanie Smith. Sivic is just a freshman, but she has started every game for the Zips so far, scoring four goals and adding four assists. She leads the team with 12 points. Lanie is close behind her in total points with 11. She leads the team in scoring with five goals so far. The two combined have accounted for over a third of the shots attempted by the Zips.

ABOUT WESTERN MICHIGAN
The Buffalo Bulls are 3-4-2 as of October 3. This team features a defense that has shut out the opposition five times already this season. They have also played four games that have gone into double-overtime. Michael Thomas heads the coaching staff in his sixth year with the team. In 2012, he helped the Bulls get to a 5-12-2 record.

KEY BULL GOALTENDER
Ainsley Wheldon has already posted four shutouts on the season. This already ties her career high of four, which she set last season. Wheldon finds herself in several places within the Buffalo record books, producing the sixth best goals-against average in the school's history at 1.31. She also has over 300 saves during her career.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
NIU holds a 7-4-1 record against Akron during the program's history. The last match came last year with the Huskies emerging victorious in a 1-0 shutout. Against Buffalo, NIU has a 7-8-1 all-time record. That one draw came last season when the Huskies and Bulls ended the game tied at 1-1.

LAST TIME ON HUSKIES WOMEN'S SOCCER
The Huskies began MAC play with two road matches in Michigan last weekend. On Friday. September 27, NIU fell to Eastern Michigan, 4-1. On Sunday, September 29, the Huskies were unable to complete the comeback in a 4-2 loss.

GOBBO LIKES THE MAC
Nicole Gobbo began MAC play with two goals in two games last weekend. She accounted for all but one of the Huskie goals over the weekend against the two Michigan teams. Gobbo now leads the team in goals scored with four on the season.

FRANKENBERG'S SCORING IS A PLUS
In the last six matches that Cori Frankenberg has scored in, the Huskies have not recorded a loss. Dating back to last season, NIU is 5-0-1 in such affairs. In those games, the Appleton, Wis. native has five game-winning goals to her credit in addition to one equalizer. Frankenberg currently has two goals on the season and leads the team in shots fired at 17. She also has two assists.

UNSELFISH HUSKIES
The Huskies have scored 12 goals so far this season. Those 12 goals are spread among eight different players, including Frankenberg, Gobbo, Allie McBride, Jess Wooldridge, Lauren Noonan, Sara Spaulding, Alex Elias, and Frances Boukidis. Not only are the scores spread around, the opportunities are as well. 22 different Huskies have attempted shot so far this season.
