Started all 49 games in the outfield and hit .287...tied with Kathy Dearborn for team leader in hits with 41...also tied with Dearborn to lead the team in doubles with 13...led the Huskies in the hit by a pitch category with four during the season...MAC Player of the Week honoree (Feb. 28) for a 5-for-10 showing at the Marriott Hobby Airport Invite...the effort included a double to kickstart a five-run third inning against Central Connecticut State (Feb. 25) for a 7-3 Huskie victory and a 2-for-2 appearance and a 3-0 win over MAC rival Buffalo (Feb. 26)...went 2-for-2 with a double and the lone RBI in a 1-0 victory over Central Michigan (Apr. 30).
One of only two Huskies to play and start 54 games while leading the team by batting .265...the solid offensive season continued, leading the Huskies in runs (22), hits (43), and RBI (20)...also the speedster of the season with 10 stolen bases in 14 attempts...hit safely in 6 consecutive games (Apr. 27-May 9)...vaulted the Huskies to a 4-2 win over Eastern Michigan (Mar. 28-29) with 2 doubles and 3 RBI...had 2 of 5 NIU hits in a 2-0, 11 inning loss to Iowa (Apr. 7).
Stepped into the starting lineup from day one in left field and responded by hitting .278 while being the only non-senior to start all 45 games...also led the team in stolen bases with 10 in 13 attempts...hit safely in five of her first seven games (Feb. 6-Mar. 1) and then ran off two separate four-game hitting streaks throughout the course of the year (Mar. 2-9 and Apr. 12-13)...posted a 2-for-3 day with three RBI and two runs scored against Bowling Green (Apr. 26)...went 3-for-3 with two runs scored in NIU's 5-4 win over St. Bonventure (Mar. 9).
Garnered All-State recognition from both the Chicago Tribune and the Illinois Coaches Association hitting .488 including 16 doubles, six triples, and two home runs in her senior season...landed on the prestigious All-SICA West team in each of the past two season, including 2002 campaign which featured 59 hits, 32 runs scored and 34 runs batted in and a trip to the IHSA Class AA State Tournament for LHS...two-time Joliet Herald News All-Area selection batted .307 with 13 stolen bases as a junior...participated in the IHSA Hitting Derby at the state championship tournament in 2002...made just one error in 103 chances during 82 games over her final two prep seasons.
Daughter of Garrett and Barbara Drozd...Huskie Scholar for the 2002-2003, 2003-04 and 2004-05 academic years...played 14U and 16U for Dana Hermann and the Lockport Legends..Spent the summer of 2001 with the Homer Hawks and the 2002 summer with the Orland Park A's.
