Assistant Softball Coach Jenna Roberts talks about what brought her to NIU and what it means to coach here in DeKalb.
2014: Second team All-MAC pick as a senior...Finished her career ranked first in program history in runs scored with 153...Started all 57 games for the Huskies in left field...Hit .337 to rank second on the team, while leading NIU in runs scored (38), hits (66), triples (5), stolen bases (12) and plate appearances (224)...Ranked second in the MAC in hits and triples, along with sitting third in runs scored...Also led the conference in at bats with 196...Hit .329 in conference games with five extra-base hits...Named MAC West Player of the Week for March 10 after hitting .600 with four RBIs and five runs in three games...Paced the Huskies with 22 multi-hit games to go along with nine multi-RBI contests...Had a seven-game hitting streak from Feb. 22 to March 9...Drove in a combined five RBIs in the first three games of the MAC Tournament...Collected a pair of triples against Buffalo (4/27)...Scored two or more runs in 10 games...Earned Academic All-MAC honorable mention honors following the season.
2013: First-team All-MAC selection...Played in a career high 58 games, starting 57, also a career high, all at left field...Made 56 starts in the outfield and one at first base...Also established career-highs in home runs (5), RBIs (30), at bats (181) and doubles (13) while tying career high in triples (4)...Leads the team in runs scored and second on the squad and eighth in the MAC in hitting with a .337 batting average and in total hits with 61...Recorded 19 multi-hit games, including a season-high three hits on three occasions...Tallied seven multi-RBI games, driving in a season-high three runs against Iona (3/16/13) and Miami (4/7/13)...Stole 12 of 13 bases...Scored multiple runs on nine occasions.
2012: Started 51 of the Huskies' 53 games, including 40 games in the outfield, 10 games at first base and one game as designated hitter...Made four appearances at pitcher...A first team All-MAC selection, led the league in hits (70) and triples (4), second in batting average (.395) and fourth in runs scored (47)...Tallied a career-high four home-runs...Led the team in 17 categories including hits, batting average, runs scored, total bases (99), and stolen bases (15)...Drove in three runs four different occasions during the season...Led the team with 23 multi-hit games, including six, three-hit performances...Went 2-for-4, including a triple, with three runs scored in the first game of a 12-5 doubleheader victory over Ball State (3/31/12).
2011: Saw action in 50 of 53 games..Started 46 games, including 31 in the outfield and 15 at pitcher...Second on the team in stolen bases (16) and third in runs scored (27)...Posted eight multi-hit games...Hit her first career home run at Texas Tech (2/25/11)...As a pitcher, first in appearances (30), second in wins (eight), strikeouts (52), and innings pitched (94.1)...Struck out a season-best five batters in a win at Colorado State (3/4/11)...Achieved Victory Scholar status (3.5-4.0 G.P.A.) within NIU's Academic Excellence program.
High School: Earned honorable mention all-state by the Texas Sports Writers Association, and selected to NFCA all-South Central Region second team as a junior and senior...Led Elkins to a 25-8 record and Region III-5A semifinals in 2010 while earning district Co-MVP...Selected to the Houston Chronicle All-Greater Houston second team in 2009 and third team in 2008...As a junior, named UIL 23-5A District MVP and first team all-district after putting up a .398 batting average and an ERA of 0.9 ...Three-time all-district first team selection...Helped lead Elkins to a share of three district championships (2008, 2009, 2010)...Member of Texas Magic Gold in 18.
