Assistant Softball Coach Jenna Roberts talks about what brought her to NIU and what it means to coach here in DeKalb.
2014: Started 56 games, including 54 at third base...Hit .209 with four doubles and a home run for the Huskies...Also batted in 15 runs...Opened the season with a hit in her first four games and five or her first six...Led the team in sacrifice bunts (10) and sac flies (4)...Was a part of 11 double plays in the field and finished the year with a .957 fielding percentage...Recorded six multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games...Knocked in three runs each against San Diego State (3/8) and Iowa State (3/23)...Earned Academic All-MAC honorable mention honors following the season.
2013: Started 54 of 56 games, batting a career-high .261...Led the Huskies in home runs (8) and walks (18), both career highs...Also established career bests in hits (35), at bats (134), runs (19), RBIs (20) and doubles (6)...Hit her first career grand slam in a 12-5 victory over Western Michigan (3/29/13)...Recorded nine multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games...Named to the 2013 MAC All-Tournament Team after batting .375 with a home run, an RBI and two runs scored and making some sensational defensive plays in five tournament games.
2012: Participated in 49 games of 53 games, starting 41...Made 39 starts at third base and two at second base...Tied for first on the team in stolen base percentage (.1.000) going 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts...Recorded 22 hits in 107 at-bats for a .208 batting average...Hit her first career home run, a three-run shot, at Ohio (4/20/12)...Tallied three multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 day against Miami (3/30/12).
2011: Participated in 31 of 53 games...Started 10 games, eight at third base and two in the outfield while making 10 pinch-running appearances...Drove in two runs on two hits, including a double, at Colorado State (3/4/11)...Achieved Victory Scholar status (3.5-4.0 G.P.A.) within NIU's Academic Excellence program.
High School: Three-year varsity letterwinner at Hinsdale South...Twice named to the All-West Suburban Conference Gold Division Team...Led the Hornets to a 26-7 mark and a regional championship in 2009...Hit .337 with 20 RBIs and 27 runs as a junior...Member of Orland Park Sparks club team...Captained U16 team to a ninth place finish at ASA A-Nationals in 2009 ... Member of the National Honors Society.
