Assistant Softball Coach Jenna Roberts talks about what brought her to NIU and what it means to coach here in DeKalb.
2014: Played in 55 games with 54 starts...Started 44 games in right field, seven in center field and three as the designated player...Ended the year fourth on the team with a .316 batting average and a .357 on-base percentage...Ranked third in runs scored with 31...Tied for second for NIU and tied for fourth in the MAC with four triples...Ended the season on an eight-game hitting streak beginning on May 2...Registered 15 multi-hit games, including three times in the month of May...Posted three-hit games against Jackson State (3/15) and Ohio (5/4)...Recorded two multi-RBI games on the year, knocking in two each against Iowa State (3/23) and Ball State (4/11)...Named Academic All-MAC honorable mention.
2013: Started all 57 of the games she has played in, both career highs, making all of her starts in centerfield...Established career highs in batting average (.293), hits (55), runs scored (29), RBIs (7) and doubles (3)...Second on the team in runs scored and third in hits and batting average...Tallied 18 multi-hit games, including a season-high three versus five opponents...Batting .323 in 37 games from the leadoff spot, 41 hits and 25 runs scored...Scored multiple runs in seven games, including a season-high three runs five times.
2012: Participated in 49 of the Huskies' 53 games, starting 36 of them in the outfield...Also made appearances at pinch runner and designated hitter...Recorded 95 at bats, driving in four runs on 23 hits...Had three hits on three at bats versus Southern (2/10/12)...Ended the season with a .242 batting average.
High School: Four-year varsity letterwinner...Named to All-Conference and All-Academic team sophomore and junior seasons...Awarded Herald News first team All-Area and Sun Times (CA) honorable mention junior season...Hit .450 with 15 RBIs in 2010, tallying the third-highest single-season run total in Illinois history with 77 while swiping 21 bases...Led Coal City High School to a 98-4 record during her tenure, including a 40-0 record junior season to take home the 2A State Championship...Led the Stone City Sharks to a WAFA national championship in 2008, a second place finish at the NAFA Nationals in 2009, and an ASA Class A national championship in 2010.
