RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Northern Illinois University softball team scored a 1-0 victory over Idaho State in the Amy S. Harrison Classic at Amy S. Harrison Field Saturday afternoon.

Freshman pitcher Monica Segura (Santa Ana, Calif./Segerstrom Fundamental) provided her own run support in the game. With two on and two out in the bottom of the fifth, Segura singled to center field to drive in pinch runner Kate Welsh (Wilmington, Ill./Bishop McNamara) from second place to give NIU (3-11) the lead.

Segura turned in her best performance thus far, limiting the Bengals (4-12) to three hits and two base on balls in seven innings of work. Andrea Colosimo (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) and Dani Parrish (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) each finished with multi-hit games as Colosimo went 2-for-2, while Parrish was 2-for-3.

The Huskies continue play in the Amy S. Harriosn Classic Saturday when Northern Illinois takes on Harvard at 4 p.m. Central Time.
