NIU Softball Team Falls to Florida A&M

TAMPA, Fla. - The Northern Illinois University softball team concluded play in the USF The Game Tournament with a 5-1 loss to Florida A&M Sunday morning. With the Huskies (6-15) trailing 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Dani Parrish belted a lead-off homer over the right field fence to tie the contest at 1-1. However, the Rattlers would respond with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to regain the lead. Sophomore Morgan Bittner (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly) suffered the loss, allowing five runs, two earned, on six hits and two walks. Parrish went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored, while Andrea Colosimo (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) also had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-2. Northern Illinois University returns to the diamond Tuesday when the Huskies welcome Western Illinois to Mary M. Bell Field for a doubleheader. Game one begins at 3 p.m. with the second game to follow. -NIU-
