CLEVELAND, OH - Taryn Hagemann (Rochelle, IL/Rochelle) was busy this weekend as the sophomore pitched nearly thirty innings of Northern Illinois University Softball in six appearances during the University of South Florida-adidas Invitational in Clearwater, FL. Her efforts earned the righty two wins and recognition from the Mid-American Conference front office.
MAC commissioner Rick Chryst announced Monday (March 13) that Hagemann was the Mid-Am West Division Pitcher of the Week. Hagemann went 2-2 for the weekend with one save. In 28.2 innings of work and six total appearances, the sophomore hurler ended up with a 1.47 ERA, giving up six earned runs and fanning 12 batters. In a complete game win against Jacksonville, Hagemann gave up one run on six hits and fanned two batters. The righty also tallied a complete-game effort against Tennessee Tech, and threw 6.1 innings, giving up just two earned runs against Virginia Tech. She also pitched three innings in combining with teammate Paige Granath to pick up a save in a Huskie 3-2 win over Purdue.
"Taryn was an all-star this weekend," said head coach Donna Martin. "A pitcher's job is to give her team the opportunity to win, and Taryn did her job well. She did everything you could ask for."
The Huskies stand 6-8 on the season and return to action on Tuesday (Mar. 14) against Fordham University at 9 a.m. (CST) and MAC foe University at Buffalo at 11 a.m. as part of the USF Spring Break Mini-Tournament in Tampa, FL.
