DEKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University softball team will play host to Northwestern University at The Ballpark at Rosemont Wednesday.

Originally scheduled for Mary M. Bell Field, the game was moved to the home of the Chicago Bandits due to the extended Midwest winter. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. and fans can follow all the action live via Gametracker at NIUHuskies.com.

The Huskies (10-12) head into Wednesday's single game coming off a split doubleheader with Iowa State on Sunday. The NIU offense tallied 20 runs on 25 hits in 12 innings, winning the first game, 15-6 in five innings before falling, 6-5, in extra innings in the second. The top of the order has really set the tone for the Huskie offense.

"Offensively, we're pretty solid," said NIU head coach Christina Sutcliffe. "We have the capability of putting up a high run total game in and game out. They're starting to get into a good rhythm and hitting some good pitches."

For the third week in a row, the Huskies boast the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week as Shelby Miller (Ottawa, Kan./Ottawa) took home the honors following her performance in Ames, Iowa. The senior shortstop went 5-for-6 at the plate (.800 Avg.), slugged 1.667, tallied four RBIs, and scored three runs in two games against the Big 12 foe. She hit for 10 total bases against the Cyclones, including one home run and two doubles.

Northwestern (17-6) comes into Wednesday's action fresh off a series victory over Wisconsin this past weekend at The Ballpark at Rosemont. Marissa Bast and Emily Allard lead the way for the Wildcats from the plate batting .397 and .395 respectively.

"On any given day, in one game, you can manage to come up with a clutch that puts you ahead," Sutcliffe said. "Our offense is rolling and we have a good chance. Competing against Northwestern is always fun because it is kind of a rivalry for us."
