Weather Forces Changes to NIU Softball Schedule

April 23, 2013

DEKALB, Ill. - Inclement weather in the DeKalb area has forced a couple changes to the Northern Illinois University softball schedule.

Today's home game between NIU and Western Illinois, originally scheduled for 4 p.m., has been cancelled and the Huskies (17-26, 7-7) will play host to UIC April 24 at 5 p.m. Wednesday's game with the Flames was originally scheduled for April 17 but was postponed due to rain.

Following their Wednesday game with UIC, the Huskies welcome Akron and Ohio to Mary M. Bell Field for Alumni Weekend. NIU takes on Akron in a doubleheader Friday and Ohio in single games on Saturday and Sunday. Friday's action begins at 1 p.m. CT, while first pitch for Saturday and Sunday's games will be 2 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively. Fans can follow all the action live via Gametracker at

NIU Athletics would like to welcome all former Huskie softball players, coach and their families to Alumni Weekend April 26-28. There will be a reception at Fatty's Pub and Grille following Saturday's game and a pregame tailgate Sunday before the Huskies take on the Bobcats.
