DEKALB, Ill. -Sophomore Andrea Colosimo (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) was named to the Mid-American Conference's All-Tournament Team after batting .500 in four games at the 2009 MAC Softball Tournament at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio this past week.
"I'm really happy for Andi," NIU head coach Lindsay Chouinard said. "She did a great job in the tournament."
Colosimo started all four games for the Huskies (20-37, 12-10), three at first base and one as the designated player, going 5-for-10 from the plate with a double and three runs batted in and a run scored. She had an on-base percentage of .643, and was retired only once in the four games. In addition to her five hits, she earned two walks and was hit by a pitch twice and stole a base. Her best performance of the tourney came in NIU's 9-4 victory over Bowling Green State. She went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.
Colosimo was NIU's top hitter, with a .291 batting average on the season, going 43-for-148 with four doubles, two triples and two home runs. She played in all 57 games for Northern Illinois, starting 54 and led the Huskies in RBIs with 24 and tied for second on the team in runs scored with 21.
