DEKALB, Ill. - First baseman Bailey Ouellette (Beaverton, Ore./Beaverton) and Huskie second baseman Emily Gooding (Lismore, Australia/Lake Land C.C.) have been named to the 2009 Academic All-MAC Softball Team as voted on by the league's faculty athletic representatives, the conference announced today.
Ouellette posted a 3.56 cumulative grade point average as a psychology major. She earned her second First-Team All-MAC selection of her four-year career after turning in her best season since her freshman campaign. She set a career high in triples with two, while tying her career highs in hits with 35 and in home runs with five.
Ouellette was second on the team in runs batted in with 24 and tied for second in runs scored with 21. She turned in a .328 batting average and a .508 slugging percentage against MAC foes, while hitting .248 and slugging .404 for the season. She played in 55 of NIU's 57 games, starting 50.
Gooding earned a 3.71 cumulative GPA in kinesiology-preventive and rehabilitation exercise science. She garnered First-Team All-MAC honors after improving a great deal in her second season at NIU. She batted .256 this season and was even better in conference play, hitting .333 against MAC opponents. She had three doubles, two triples and a home run with 17 RBI in 49 games, all career highs.
