Jessica Gomez, a three-year letterwinner at Washington State, joins the Northern Illinois women's tennis program for her second year as a graduate assistant coach. Gomez brings international experience to the Huskie program after achieving success in both Mexico and Spain during her high school career. At the age of 14, Gomez captured a title in a national event in her hometown of Guadalupe, Mexico. While in high school, she won sectional, regional, and state titles in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. After participating in the Mexican Olympics, she went on to win two tournaments in Barcelona, Spain and eventually climbed into the top ten junior rankings for her age group. In three years as a Cougar, Gomez compiled 37 singles victories as well as 23 doubles victories. As a sophomore she led Washington State in doubles victories with 13 and was also the honored with the WSU Coaches Award. Gomez graduated in the spring of 2011 with a degree in Management Information Systems. |
