DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois women's tennis team will hit the road for a match against the Bradley Braves (1-4) on Saturday, February 22. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m. with teams playing at The Clubs at River City in Peoria, Ill.

NIU has had extra time to prepare for the Braves, as the Huskies did not play last weekend. The last time they took to the tennis courts, they were able to win two close matches. On Friday, February 7, NIU defeated SIU-Edwardsville, 4-3. The team followed up that performance with a win on the following Saturday, February 8 versus Cleveland State, 4-3. With those wins, the Huskies have a 3-1 record on the young season.

The Braves started their season with a 7-0 win at home against Western Illinois. However, since then, they've lost four straight. Although, these haven't been lopsided affairs, and Braves have come reasonably close to winning in three of the losses. Head Coach Matt Tyler is new to the team this year. Prior to taking the job at Bradley, Tyler was named Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Coach of the Year in 2010 when he coached the Wartburg women's team to a school record in wins at 13. Last season, the Huskies took on the Braves in to open season, NIU taking the affair 6-1.

This will be the only match on the weekend for the Huskies, but they'll get back to it in just under a week. On Friday, February 28, NIU will return home to face DePaul at 2:00 p.m. The match will be at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford, Ill.
