ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team concluded its 2007 fall schedule competing at the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional Championships at the University of Michigan this weekend.

Lilian Asuaje (Monterrey, Mexico/American School Foundation of Monterey) was the lone Huskie competing in singles play. She fell to Akron's Amy Sherlock in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 in consolation matches Thursday. Friday Asuje teamed with Brooke Forsberg (Moline, Ill./Moline) in doubles action Friday afternoon. The two fell to Illinois State's doubles team, 8-2.

"Basically, over the weekend, I saw exactly what I wanted to see," said NIU head coach Ryun Ferrell. "Lilian just missed out of the tournament. We have the foundation laid for her to play at a high level in the spring. She looked really good. She and Brooke in doubles looked really good as well. The score doesn't indicate how well they did. It was tough tennis. They executed really well."

The Huskies begin the spring portion of their schedule Jan. 26, 2008 at the University of Wisconsin.
