WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Shoshanna Brown tied the school triple jump record, and the Northern Illinois track and field team had 11 top-eight placements at the Mike Poehlein Invitational, Saturday, including seven in jumping events. Including Brown's record-tying second-place finish, Huskies took three of the top four places in the triple jump to highlight the day. Brown finished as the runner-up with a 38-4.25 jump, matching teammate Brittany Houghton's mark set at the 2008 Mid-American Conference Championships. Brown's performance is the third school record set in as many events this outdoor season. Houghton earned the bronze in the triple jump with a 37-2.25 mark, and freshman Jenner Sio hit 36-9.75 for fourth place. The story was similar in the long jump, where another trio of Huskies finished high. Houghton placed third with an 18-10 mark. Brown finished sixth with a 17-9, and freshman Deidra McIntosh placed eighth with a 17-7.5 jump. Junior Nicole Williams took fourth with a 5-5 high jump to close a standout day for the Huskie leapers. Also in the field, senior Jennene Anthony finished fourth in the discus with a 147-4 throw, and Rachel Pinson threw 108-5 in the javelin to place seventh. The 4x100 relay team of Kaylee Walters, Rochelle Muskeyvalley, Rasheta Butler and Houghton highlighted Northern Illinois' day on the track with a fourth place finish in 48.73 seconds. Senior Meghan Ginter also performed well, placing seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 12:17.29. The Huskies return to action in two weeks at the Spartan Open, April 18, in Dubuque, Iowa
