Normal, Ill. - Northern Illinois senior Ashley Morrow (O'Fallon, Ill.) picked up right where she left off, as the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Regional participant won both the shot put and weight throw at the Redbird Open, hosted by Illinois State, on Saturday afternoon.

Morrow posted a winning throw of 46'11" in the shot put and added a first-place toss of 56'1 ¼" in the weight throw. Teammate Margaret Gorski (Elmwood Park, Ill.) followed close behind Morrow in the shot put with a third-place throw of 44'1 ½", while teammate Meagan Guenther (Highland Park, Ill.) had a runner-up mark of 53'8 ¼" in the weight throw.

Senior Lorene Skipper (Hendersonville, Tenn.) earned the other first-place finish for the Huskies with a winning time of 2:17.94 in the 800-meter run. She was also a part of the third-place 4x400 relay (3:59.19) with teammates Coretta Evans (Wheeling, Ill.), Kristen Ewald (Ottawa, Ill.) and Carolyn Vasquez (Arlington Heights, Ill.).

Evans added two more third-place finishes in both the 200-meter dash (25.99) and 400-meter dash (58.8).

Sophomore Maria Solonyko (Rockford, Ill.) earned a second-place finish of 6:10.25 in the 1-mile run and was followed in third by sophomore Brittany Sasek (LaGrange, Ill.), who crossed the finish line in 6:10.48.

NIU will have a month off before they take part in the Illinois Invitational on January 13th at 9 a.m. (CST).
