CLEVELAND - Sophomore high jumper Jessica Statler has been named to the 2008 Academic All-Mid-American Conference team, after recording a perfect 4.0 grade point average and winning two indoor event titles.

In addition to netting a perfect GPA studying business, Statler captured high jumps wins at the Redbird Invite and the Badger Track Classic. Statler, the Northern Illinois record-holder in the outdoor high jump (5'8.75"), also recorded top-three finishes at the Eastern Illinois Mega Meet and the Carle/Health Alliance Classic.

The 22-member Academic All-MAC team was voted on by the league's Faculty Athletic Representatives from a list of student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
