Blue Demon Invitational Meet Central | Mt. SAC Relays Live Results | Beach Invitational Live Results
DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University track & field team continues with their busy April this weekend when they compete in three meets in two states.
Most of the team will be competing Saturday at the Blue Demon Invitational in Chicago, while Jamie Burr (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska), Meghan Heuer (St. Charles, Ill./North), Ali Olson (New Auburn, Wis./Bloomer) and Hannah Savage (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) head to southern California for the Mt. SAC Relays Friday and the Beach Invitational Saturday.
“As the team gets closer to the MAC meet, each weekend we need to continue to focus on being competitors,” said NIU head coach Connie Teaberry. “Nothing should be able to detour the athletes’ goals from wanting first place. We need to execute and remaining healthy.”
Last Saturday at the UTEP Invitational, NIU collected 11 top 10 finishes. Tops among that group was junior Latesha Bigby (Hanover, Jamaica/Butler CC), who collected finishes of seventh or better in three different events. In addition, Michaela Dwyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey), Alexandria Isom (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) and Erica Miller (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) all set personal records.
Looking ahead, the Huskies will battle four Chicago-area foes Saturday at DePaul. In addition to the host Blue Demons, the field also consists of UIC, Valparaiso and Northwestern. Out west, NIU’s distance crew will take on some of the nation’s best inside Mt. SAC’s historic Hilmer Lodge Stadium, then face an equally difficult field the next day at Long Beach State.
Live results are available for all three meets.
