Denver, CO - Denver's trio of Lisa Hunter, Kim Muller and Amanda Millard proved to be too much for the Northern Illinois University women's volleyball team as they combined for a hitting percentage of .397 (42 kills, 9 errors, 83 attacks) to lead the host Pioneers to the 30-28, 30-25, 30-26 sweep of the Huskies in the Denver Invitational at Hamilton Gymnasium on Saturday night.
Hunter tallied a match-high 16 kills, followed by both Muller (15 kills) and Millard (11 kills, 14 digs). Muller was flawless as she finished with a hitting percentage of .750 (15 kills, 0 errors, 20 attacks).
With the victory, Denver improves to 6-5 on the campaign, while the Huskies drop to 7-7 on the season.
Northern Illinois junior middle blocker Kate McCullagh (Woodstock) topped the Huskies with 13 kills, while teammates Amy Ward (Sycamore) and Joelle Beisel (Rossville, IN) each chipped in nine kills in the loss.
Northern Illinois will open its Mid-American Conference campaign on Friday, Sept. 23rd, as the Huskies will host Eastern Michigan at 7:00 p.m. at Victor E. Court.
