Ypsilanti, Mich. - If the Northern Illinois volleyball team was looking to begin the Mid-American Conference campaign on the right foot, the visiting Huskies certainly took a step in the right direction as NIU opened with the 27-30, 30-27, 30-20, 30-28 victory over Eastern Michigan at the EMU Convocation Center on Friday evening in the MAC opener for both teams.
"This was a complete team effort," NIU Head Volleyball Coach Ray Gooden said. "We had strong, solid play from top to bottom tonight. The girls were on a mission tonight and it was great to see them give it their all and have a positive result."
