DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois volleyball program announced its 2010 summer camps schedule today featuring 13 opportunities for any individual, group, or team to receive development and assistance from the NIU volleyball staff and players, as well as help from professional coaches and players, with a normal ratio of 8-10 camp staff to one camper.

The goals of the Huskie volleyball camps are to develop the volleyball fundamentals of each player, challenge each player to reach a higher level of play, stress the team concept, help players enhance their volleyball experience and desire to excel, and allow players to improve and learn at a positive pace, make new friends, enjoy themselves, and most importantly, have fun.

The specialty clinics are for players ages 12-18 and are designed as single day clinics to teach all ability levels and to improve specialty skills, such as setting, hitting and defense. Each clinic includes over five hours of instruction by NIU staff and team members as well as a t-shirt. Each clinic, setting, attacking and defense, will take place on June 6, June 13, and July 11.

The overnight all-skills camps are for the same age group which thoroughly cover all volleyball related skills and culminates in competition-play for all campers. It is suggested that players attend this camp before attending the college intensity/elite camp. Session I of the all-skills camps runs from June 6-9 and session II runs from June 13-16. The final session is on July 7-10.

The college intensity camp is for players ages 13-18 and is designed for players who want to play and train like the top Huskies. All drills are created for higher intensity to provide greater challenges. This camp is for the higher level volleyball player who competes at the varsity level and has extensive club experience. The college intensity camp runs from July 11-14. Overnight Camp registration before June 17th includes the opportunity of a discounted admission to one of the USA National Team matches versus Finland in Hoffman Estates, Ill. on June 25 or 26 at the Sears Centre Arena.
