DeKALB, Ill. - Due to the inclement weather and unforeseen health issues during the school year, many high schools and grammar schools have extended their class days deeper into June. The additional snow days and health related closings have drastically reduced early June summer camp registrations, forcing the Northern Illinois volleyball program to cancel session I of the overnight all-skills camp that was scheduled for June 7-10.

However, the Huskies will still hold session II and session III of the overnight camps on June 10-13 and July 5-8, respectively. Additionally, NIU will also have specialty clinics for players ages 12-18 that are designed as single day clinics to teach all ability levels and to improve specialty skills, such as setting, hitting and defense. Each clinic includes over five hours of instruction by NIU staff and team members as well as a t-shirt. Each clinic, setting, attacking and defense, will take place twice, once on June 7 and again on July 5.

There will also be a college intensity camp for players ages 13-18 that is designed for players who want to play and train like the Huskies. All drills are created for higher intensity to provide greater challenges. This camp is for the higher level volleyball player who competes at the varsity level and has extensive club experience. The college intensity camp runs from July 8-11 and includes the opportunity of attending a USA National Team match versus Italy in Hoffman Estates, Ill. during the July 10 evening session. Campers are strongly encouraged to attend the all-skills camps prior to the college intensity camp and those who register before May 29 can save $50 on each of the overnight camps.

For a brochure and registration, contact NIU assistant coach Dan Pawlikowski at 815-753-1496 and dpawlikowski@niu.edu or go to the volleyball section of the NIU camps page.
