DeKALB, Ill. - Rain and flood conditions across northern Illinois pushed the start of the Northern Illinois volleyball season back one day, but Saturday's NIU Volleyball Invitational at Victor E. Court in the Convocation Center will take place beginning at 11 a.m., Northern Illinois officials announced Saturday morning.
Four matches will be played on Saturday, with Northern Illinois opening their season versus Indiana in the first match of the day at 11 a.m. (Central). Western Illinois will play Western Kentucky at 1 p.m. to close out the early session. At 5 p.m., Indiana will take on Western Illinois with NIU and Western Kentucky facing off at 7 p.m. in the day's finale.
On Sunday, the four teams will play the matches originally scheduled for Friday with Indiana and Western Kentucky meeting at 10 a.m. in Victor E. Court. The tournament will conclude with NIU versus Western Illinois at Noon.
Due to Friday's events, which included the school's closure, admission to both days of the NIU Volleyball Invitational will be free. Fans who cannot make it to the game can catch the scores on GameTracker on www.niuhuskies.com.
