NIU Volleyball Hosts IPFW In Final Non-Conference Tune-Up On Tuesday

DeKalb, Ill. - The Mid-American Conference slate is right around the corner and the Northern Illinois volleyball squad is gearing up for it with a final non-conference match-up against IPFW on Tuesday (September 19), for a 7 p.m. first serve at Victor E. Court.

NIU senior middle blocker Kate McCullagh (Woodstock, Ill.) leads the Huskies (7-4) offensively with 5.08 kills-per-game, which is good for fourth in the country. The Woodstock, Ill., product is also tops on the squad with 28 total blocks (7 solo).

Huskie sophomore setter Mandi Caputo (Chicago, Ill.) has adapted quite nicely into the NIU lineup, as she has dished out 413 assists, good for fifth overall in the MAC . NIU single-season and career leader in digs, Gina Guide (Orland Park, Ill.), continues to lead the pack with 219 `ups' on the campaign and averaging 5.95 dig-per-game, good for second in the MAC.

IPFW enters Tuesday's match with a mark of 8-8 on the season. Junior outside hitter Cynara Martins paces the Mastodon offensive attack with 172 kills on the campaign.
