Roy Griak Invitational Results
FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - The Northern Illinois cross country team closed out the first month of their season Saturday afternoon, as they ran at the Roy Griak Invitational.
As a team, the Huskies placed 27th in the field, beating out Creighton in the final standings.
"Frustrating results for us today," said NIU Head Coach Greg Hipp. "We're doing a lot of things right during the week and to run this way on the weekend is disappointing. We have to learn how to compete while in challenging races."
For the second consecutive meet, sophomore Ali Olson led the Huskies, clocking in at 23:04.00 on the 6K course to place 151st. Behind her was Meghan Heuer in 218th place with a time of 23:47.35, while Jamie Burr crossed the finish line at 23:53.50 to place 226th.
Rounding out NIU's scorers were Leah Raffety and Claire Mcauley. Raffety took a 227th place finish at 23:54.05 and McAuley finished 244th with a time of 24:09.30.
Carly Pederson took 263rd place, timing in at 24:41.95, and Hannah Savage was right behind her with a 24:42.25 clip to claim 264th.
Rachel Smoemaker ran 25:16.30 for a 279th place finish and Alexis Capps finished 280th at 25:20.15.
The Huskies cap off their regular season in three weeks on Oct. 18 when they trek to Peoria, Ill., for the Bradley Classic.
